Coffee Streusel Slice

BASE

Butter                - 125 gm
Plain Flour         - 1 cup
Sugar                 - ¼ cup
Self raising flour  - ¼ cup

FILLING

Sweetened condensed milk  - 1 can (400 gm)
Butter                                  - 30 gm
Golden Syrup                      - 2 tbs
Instant coffee powder           - 3 tsp
Finely chopped walnuts        - 1/3 cup

TOPPING

Plain Flour     - 1 cup
Cinnamon      - 2 tsp
Brown Sugar  - 1/3 cup (firmly packed)
Butter            - 125 gm

METHOD

BASE - Cream butter and sugar until just combined, stir in sifted flours in two lots, mix to a firm dough. Press evenly over base of well greased swiss roll tin (12''x 10'') or (10''x 10"). Bake in oven at 315° F for 10 minutes, spread fillings. Grate topping evenly over surface. Bake in oven at 315° F further 10 to 15 minutes or until toppings feels firm to touch. Stand 15 minutes before cutting. Leave to cool in tin. Cut into bars or slices.
FILLING - Combine condensed milk, butter, golden syrup and coffee in saucepan. Stir over midium heat until mixture begins to bubble on base of pan. Continue stirring briskly for about 3 minutes or until mixture is thick and beginning to stick on base of pan. Stir in walnuts.
TOPPING - Sift dry ingredients into basin, rub in butter. Mix to a firm dough, refrigerate for 30 minutes before grating coarsely.
