Valentine Cake

INGREDIENTS

Banana flavored corn flour        - 1 packet
Strawberry flavored corn flour  - 1 packet
Corn flour         - 1 oz
Castor sugar     - 4 oz
Eggs                 - 4
Pinch of salt

Butter Icing

Butter               - 4 oz
Icing sugar        - 8 oz
Flavoring
For Butter Cream: Cream the butter until soft and white. Work in the sugar and flavoring.

Glace Icing

Icing sugar        - 1 ½ lb
Warm water     - 4 ½ dessert spoon
Sieve the icing sugar and add water gradually and gently heat for 1 minute. Add flavoring and coloring.

METHOD

Separate the eggs and beat with the whites with salt until stiff, then beat in the yolks. Add sugar and continue beating until thick and creamy. Divide into two equal portions. Fold in the banana flavored corn flour to one portion and the strawberry flavored corn flour to the other portion. Pour into two separate greased tins and bake for 20 – 25 minutes at 400º F. Sandwich the cakes together with a little butter cream. Put the cake on board and pour the glace icing over, covering completely. Pipe the edge with no.8 pipe. Decorate with ribbons and flowers.
